The Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund received a notification today (9th) to follow up a stranded whale dolphin case. A young female whale dolphin with a length of about 152 cm was found in Silverstrand Bay, Sai Kung. The carcass has been severely rotten. The species and cause of death have yet to be confirmed. Less than 10 days into 2020, four cases of stranded cetaceans have been recorded in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund has taken the body back to Ocean Park for a detailed autopsy, and urges the public to call the 1823 hotline if they suspect a cetacean stranding case, and provide the time, place, and photo (if any) of the stranding for the action team Able to follow up as soon as possible.
