"And it was not my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed," protesters sang in front of the court where one of Hollywood's most prolific producers was prosecuted.

Dozens of women with black bandages on their eyes met this Friday in front of the New York court where film producer Harvey Weinstein is being tried for rape. The women sang in unison 'A rapist on your way', the hymn composed by the Chilean feminist collective Las Tesis that rang all over the world and denounces sexual violence.

"And it was not my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed," protesters sang in unison as seen in a video tweeted by The New York Times journalist Jodi Kantor, who won a Pulitzer Prize with his colleague Megan Twohey for his report of the accusations of sexual assaults against Weinstein.

Kantor said on his Twitter, "The message is that the problem of sexual violence is global, and it is systemic."

When singing "The rapist is you", the women pointed directly to the court where the Oscar-winning producer faces charges for raping a woman in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013 and for performing a forced sexual act against another woman in 2006.

Weinstein, 67, pleaded not guilty in the case and denied any accusation of non-consensual sex. He also faces a sex crime case in Los Angeles, where he is accused of raping one woman and sexually assaulting another in two separate incidents in two days in 2013.

Donna Rotunno, one of Weinstein's lawyers, said she believed the charge with the new charges was "orchestrated," but gave no evidence to justify her claim.

Andrea Suarez told NBC News that she and her companions were "showing our support to all survivors of sexual violence, to all women in general."

When asked if he had a message for Weinstein, Suarez simply said: "We know what you did."

Pepper Binkley, another protester, said they were "recreating" the public protest style of the Chilean feminist collective.

This Tuesday was the fifth day of Weinstein's trial, which is still in the jury selection phase. After the protest, many of the protesters moved to the Trump Tower in downtown Manhattan, where they protested against the "patriarchy ... that judges us to be born."

In total, more than 80 women have accused Weinstein of inappropriate sexual behavior for decades, but the New York criminal trial focuses on the allegations of two women.

The accusations first came to light more than two years ago in reports from The New York Times and The New Yorker .
