Last updated: 2020-01-12 16:51The number of stranded cetacean cases in Hong Kong last year was 52, the largest number in the past years, which is a cause of concern for marine ecological issues. Some people today (12th) found traces of dolphins in the treasure seafood area of Aberdeen and wandered around fishing boats.

A member of the public uploaded a clip to a social networking site at noon, referring to a dolphin found near Aberdeen's Jumbo Seafood Bar, which exposed its dorsal fins and swam around the nearby fishing boat. Some fishermen suspected that the dolphins broke into the waters around Aberdeen because they got lost, fearing that it would be injured by fishing boats, and called on nearby fishermen to drive carefully.
In May last year, a citizen found a juvenile sub-tropical spotted dolphin in the waters of Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter. At that time, it also swam out of the water around a boat buoy from time to time. The Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund subsequently reported to the scene that the dolphins were in good physical condition and there was no danger of stranding. They would continue to closely monitor the status of dolphins with AFCD.
In fact, the dolphin stranding situation is worrying. As of December 20 last year, the Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Fund had received 52 cases of stranded whales and dolphins, which exceeded the record of the highest 50 cases in 2014. Among them, the number of stranded finless porpoises reached 40, the largest number in history. Some organizations have pointed out that due to the continuous “onboarding” of offshore projects in Hong Kong, including incineration furnaces built in Shiguzhou and offshore LNG receiving stations built by the two power companies, they have questioned the impact of the project on the ecology of the sea.
