Black U.S. Sen. Corey Booker, recently delighted by the lack of ethnic diversity among Democratic primaries candidates, announced Monday that he is retiring from the presidential race. Booker, a New Jersey Democrat, has been considered a potential White House challenger for more than two decades - since his underdog campaign for Newark mayor's office was documented in a documentary that was nominated for an Academy Award. Morning's retirement announcement came the day before the Democratic confrontation to be held in Iowa tomorrow, during which only six candidates will argue, all white.
50-year-old Morning focused his campaign on calling for love and unity with a common goal of fighting President Donald Trump's party rhetoric. His messages have sometimes been in dispute with the angry Democratic boss about the president's behavior.
In an email he sent to his supporters, the senator wrote that his campaign had no budget left, especially given that he would lose the confrontation and likely be called a jury in Trump's upcoming Senate impeachment process. "I am proud of the ideas that we have brought to these democratic primaries, and more importantly, the values they have defended - that the only way we will move forward is to bring people together, even when we are told that our approach is not winning," he said.

Trump, for his part, joked about Booker’s retirement from the presidential race. In his Twitter account, the president tweeted: "Really big news (laughs): Booker, who had zero chances according to the polls, has now retired from the Democratic primaries. Now I can sleep peacefully tonight.
