A 41-year-old man of Brazilian origin set himself on fire in his home immediately after receiving an executive eviction order from a bailiff: he is now hospitalized in very serious conditions. It happened in a building in via Torino in Altopascio (Lucca) where man lives in an apartment on the first floor. The health workers, the Pegaso helicopter rescue, the carabinieri and the city police intervened. Some families are evacuated as a precaution.
According to what was reconstructed at the time, the 41-year-old would have sprinkled himself with flammable liquid and then set himself on fire. A fire would then develop which drew from the furnishings of the apartment. It is to be verified whether the man, before setting himself on fire, could also have opened the gas from the kitchen: there seems to have been a sudden blaze. The 41-year-old would then drag himself to the courtyard of the apartment building where he received first aid.
