[Year End of ICAC] Nearly 95% of 518 complaints derived from last year's District Council elections are traceable

By nature of the complaints, 153 involved the release of false or misleading statements about candidates, 113 involved the use of force or coercion against candidates, and 97 complaints involving bribery of voters. In 2019, 23 people were charged and 17 of them were involved in bribery and voting cases in functional constituencies in the 2016 Legislative Council election.

Deng Guobin said that "the Commission fully supports the ICAC's vigorous enforcement" to combat all election-related corruption and fraud in order to maintain a clean and fair public election.
