Representing President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis in Tehran today presented the duty of condolences and solidarity to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian people for the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani.

During the meeting, President Rouhani valued Syria's sympathy and solidarity with Iran, noting that Washington assassinated General Soleimani because he was a supporter of the peoples of the region, stressing that Iran, the leadership and people of Iran, stood beside Syria and its people in the face of terrorism and the economic blockade imposed on it.

The Iranian President pointed out that it is now important for the reconstruction phase in Syria to begin and for life to return to normal, stressing that the deep-rooted Syrian-Iranian relations will continue on the same path.

For his part, Eng. Khamis affirmed that Syria stood by Iran in light of the conditions the region is going through and supported its right to defend itself, noting that the current conditions require further development of joint cooperation relations in all fields, expressing thanks to the government and the Iranian people for standing with Syria in its war against terrorism Stressing the need to continue to eradicate terrorism and liberate the region from its abomination.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Defense, General Ali Ayoub, the Minister of Roads and Urban Construction, Mohammad Islami, the Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, and the Iranian ambassador in Damascus, Jawad Turk Abadi.

In a statement to the media after the meeting, Eng. Khamis said: “We came today at the head of an official delegation commissioned by President Bashar al-Assad to convey the duty of condolences for the martyrdom of the team Soleimani to our brothers in Iran at all levels and to allow the leader of the Islamic revolution in Iran Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei and President Rouhani and through them to the people The Iranian ”, referring to the great role played by the martyr Soleimani in combating terrorism and the forces of evil that have wreaked havoc in the region and the countries of the anti-terrorism axis.
