Tehran-Sana

The official of the criminal prosecution in Tehran, Judge Muhammad Shahriari, announced today the identification of 100 passengers on the crashed Ukrainian plane that crashed near Tehran airport at dawn last Wednesday.

Judge Shahryari said in a statement: “In light of the serious and continuous work in the forensic medicine department, the identities of 100 people who were on the stricken Ukrainian plane have been identified,” noting that work is underway to determine the identities of other victims.

Shahriari pointed out that 30 bodies had been handed over to their families, noting that a number of families had prepared files regarding their victims, as their bodies would be delivered soon.

In the same context, the first aide of the Iranian President, Yitzhak Jahangiri, during his visit to the home of one of the victims of the Ukrainian passenger plane crash today, confirmed that the government formed a team headed by the Minister of Roads to identify the bodies of the victims and hand them over to their families.

It is noteworthy that a Ukrainian Boeing 737 plane crashed shortly after take-off last Wednesday from Imam Khomeini Airport, southwest of Tehran, after it was hit by a missile by the air defense, killing all 167 passengers, mostly Iranians, and the 9-person crew.
