The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare said that in the first confirmed case of a new coronavirus infection in the country, a Chinese male patient was either infected by his father. Authorities discovered on the 16th that the patient had close contact with his father while living in his hometown in Wuhan. Authorities are investigating in detail.

The patient is a 30-year-old man living in Kanagawa Prefecture. After his stay in Wuhan, he returned to Japan on January 6 and his samples were detected with the same new coronavirus found in China.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare said that the patient's father also developed this new type of pneumonia. He had close contact with his father at home before returning to Japan.

This case is the second "Wuhan pneumonia" case found outside China. It is said that most patients have been to the seafood market in Wuhan, but the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare said that the male patient did not stay in the Wuhan South China Seafood Market.

The department also pointed out that no patients suspected of having a secondary infection, including those living with male patients. Authorities believe that "the likelihood of transmission is low."

Japanese media reported on January 16 that the first confirmed case of a new coronavirus infection was confirmed in a local case. A male patient had previously been to Wuhan and has now recovered and discharged. According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, there are no other suspected cases in the area except him.

A number of media reported on January 14 that the World Health Organization said that Wuhan pneumonia virus could be "limited to pass from person to person" and could lead to large-scale spread, but the organization later denied the same day, saying it was a "serious misunderstanding." An organization spokesman told the BBC: "There is no evidence of limited human-to-human transmission of the virus, but the mode of transmission of the virus has not been determined ... it is difficult to determine whether an infected person has been exposed to the same source of infection. The disease is still caused by one person transmitting the virus to another. "
