Mysterious distribution of Islamophobic books in Châtillon mailboxes

2020-01-17T14:40:16.137Z

Several residents of a suburban neighborhood have received anti-Islam books published by far-right websites, without knowing who threw them

Who is the mysterious sender of anti-Islam works? This is the question posed by several residents of Châtillon, after having received in their mailbox books published by far right websites. According to a retiree, who wished to remain anonymous, at least two different titles were distributed just on her street.

Last week, she received "The assassins obey the Koran", written by René d'Armor and Christine Tasin. The founder of Résistance Républicaine, an association that also publishes books, made herself known in 2010 for her saucisson-pinard aperitifs in the Goutte-d'Or district (18th century). The cover of the book, which features weapons spouting from a bloody Koran, clearly associates Islam and terrorism.

Most of the inhabitants concerned were entitled to another work published by the Riposte laïque site, founded by Pierre Cassen, and entitled "Why and how to prohibit Islam".

"It's a very insidious method"

Béatrice did not see the color of this work. “My partner immediately threw it in the trash!” She says. Receiving a book without a word, without a demand, a few weeks before the municipal elections, is a very insidious method. "

In front of her house, a neighbor reacts differently. "I saw that it was very oriented but that answers questions that we ask as Franco-French on the burkini, the wearing of the veil, the undeclared Koranic schools ... Islamization in general" , admits Corinne *, who reads "enough newspapers on the right".

The donor seems to have targeted no one in particular, except the suburban streets in the north of the town. When Sophie, a Muslim of North African origin, discovered the book in her mailbox, she felt “attacked”. Then "relieved" when he learned that his neighbors had also received it.

"This will not appease the anti-Muslim climate"

In the process, this 43-year-old mother posted an ad on the Wanted social network to try to find out who was behind this “foul smelling thing”. An attempt quickly aborted.

"I got a surge, I was suspected of advertising it," she reports. For her, this propaganda act is "an incitement to hatred": "This will not appease the anti-Muslim climate. We are already badly crossed… "

In reality, the distribution is done drop by drop, distilled over several weeks already. Random door-to-door, we come across Claudine. She remembers having received "a hyperfacho book" in early December. "I wanted to keep it, then I felt like I was defiled, so I threw it away. Lay response, however, it gave the impression of being on the left. "

One of the two publishers claims to have nothing to do with it

At the town hall, we assure that we have not yet had any feedback from the inhabitants. The mayor (LR), Jean-Pierre Schosteck even claims to be unaware. "This is the first time I have heard of this. I hope this will not become widespread. "

The management of the Riposte laïque site also ensures that it had not heard of it and, above all, that it is not responsible for it. "We would like to, that would mean that we are rich!" "Jokes Pierre Cassen.

The site founder seems puzzled by the approach. “Even if the supporters have enough money to distribute our books [ Editor's note: they cost 12 euros each] , you might as well give it to interested people, not just anyone. It's a waste in terms of efficiency! "

The opposition denounces this distribution

For her part, the elected (PS) and municipal candidate Nadège Azzaz expressed her “support for the Châtillonnais victims of this provocation”, on Twitter.

Horrified by this nauseating drift of the far right in our city that we thought was spared by the deadly rise of these filthy ideas.

"We thought we were protected from the deadly and unjust ideas of the National Front and we realize that it is something that exists and that is hidden in cities like ours," she denounces. It is revolting, scandalous, shameful. I invite people to file complaints. "

Same story in the right opposition. "I do not quite understand the aim and I strongly condemn this kind of propaganda of an Islamophobic nature," says Anne-Christine Bataille, also a candidate (DVD) in the municipal elections. These books can fall into the hands of children, they have a violent impact in an already difficult context. "
