To enjoy the beauty of dolphins in Hong Kong on weekdays, you must go to Ocean Park. However, many citizens filmed this afternoon (17th), showing dozens of animals like dolphins swimming in the busy Victoria Harbour. The Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society said that the fake killer whale was seen in the short film. According to observations, there are 50 to 100 fake killer whales today, and they are quite active. Traveling to the west of Hong Kong does not rule out that the batch of fake killer whales got lost and entered Victoria Harbour.

A clip showed that the batches of pseudo killer whales were very close to the ship. (Screenshot of Facebook fragment from Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society)

According to the online video, the batches of fake killer whales jumped out of the water from time to time, shuttled between a number of ships, and the background showed landmarks such as the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre. Some vessels suspended navigation to avoid collisions, and people on board took pictures. The photographer later commented that the situation was "inexplicable". It is estimated that the pseudo-killer whales appeared in large numbers, and they were not lost. "There is a dangerous opportunity to live in a tight place."

The Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society published a post in response to a Facebook post stating that the pseudo-killer whale, also known as the blackbird, has a round head and a gray-black body. The Institute estimates that these batches of fake killer whales "should accidentally hit Hong Kong Victoria by accident, and hope that the group of passengers will safely leave Hong Kong", reminding the public to take pictures, but do not go too close. The last time a fake killer whale appeared in Hong Kong's waters was in February 2014. At that time, nearly a hundred fake killer whales "flashed" in Kwai Chung and north of Lantau Island.

Society spokesman Mai Xiwen said that the occurrence of pseudo killer whales in Hong Kong waters is rare, and the films show that these killer whales are healthy and active. They are widely found in temperate and tropical waters, and the closest location to Hong Kong is the east coast of Taiwan. She did not rule out that the fake killer whales had lost their way into Victoria Harbour.

Mai also pointed out that pseudo-killer whales can reach 4 to 6 meters in length, and in addition to hurting them, they may also cause injuries to people on board. Therefore, vessels should be avoided. She emphasized that pseudo-killer whales have a very low chance of attacking humans.
