The Kremlin announced today that Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the international conference on Libya scheduled to be held next Sunday in the German capital, Berlin.

"President Putin will visit Berlin to participate in the international conference on Libya, and it is expected to exchange views on the problems of resolving the Libyan crisis, including the cessation of hostilities, reconciliation of the conflicting parties, and the launching of a broad political dialogue under the auspices of the United Nations," the Kremlin news agency quoted the Kremlin as saying.

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed yesterday the importance of holding the international conference on Libya on the 19th of this month in Berlin successfully.

In the context, Libyan Army Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar confirmed in a letter sent to President Putin his support for holding peace talks on Libya in Russia and his willingness to accept the invitation to visit Moscow in order to continue the Libyan dialogue, expressing at the same time his thanks to Russia for its efforts to bring peace and stability in Libya.

On the thirteenth of this month, talks were held on the cease-fire in Libya between the Russian foreign and defense ministers, Sergey Lavrov, Sergey Shoygo, the foreign ministers of the Turkish regime, the Libyan army chief Hifter and the head of the reconciliation government, Fayez al-Sarraj.
