[Private car hits school children] Nine people injured on the sidewalk, including primary school students

Male teacher and eight third-graders were hit by a male student who was involved in the car

According to the scene, at the time of the incident, a 43-year-old female driver took her two sons along Tianping Road toward Ma Shi Road. When she reached the upper address, she reported that she was suddenly discomfort, and then went out of control and shoveled on the sidewalk. At the same time, a 31-year-old male teacher of Li Zhida Memorial School was leading a group of third-year students to walk back to school after performing track and field sports at a nearby sports ground. The male teacher was knocked down with 8 students and one male student was involved. The car was injured and the neighbour rescued him. Initially, male teachers and 3 male and 1 female students suffered multiple fractures, all of them were sober, and were sent to Prince of Wales Hospital and Nethersole Hospital for treatment. In addition, 3 male and 1 female students had minor bruises on their hands and feet and returned to school to treat the wounds by themselves.

A witness at the scene said that a loud noise was heard suddenly at the time of the incident, and then the private car hit the outer wall again. A male student was trapped under the car and was rescued by fire. Three other students were treated by the roadside. One student was injured by an iron pillar. Later, the Saint John Ambulance Station also dispatched people to rescue the injured.

Inspector Liu Zhenye of the first team of the New Territories North Traffic Accident Investigation said that the boy who had been trapped under the car was seriously injured in the incident, and suffered head and foot fractures. The police will investigate the situation of the road, the attitude and condition of the driver, and the performance of the vehicle parts. Track and field team returned to school after training
