Dear farewell: Harry and Megan on Saturday concluded the terms of retirement from representing the British royal house, according to an official statement released by Queen Elizabeth. Under the agreement, the young couple who wanted to keep themselves out of the royal house would lose many of the benefits they were given for their status, but would not lose their degrees.

In a letter released by the Queen, she wrote that "I am pleased to announce that after months of discussion on the issue - which was accelerated due to recent developments, we have found a constructive and supportive way forward with Harry and his family.

"Harry, Megan and Archie will always be beloved family members. I understand that the last few years have been difficult for public attention and support for their desire to live an independent life.

NEW: Queen on new arrangements.

Harry, Meghan & Archie will always be much loved members of our family.

I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny. I am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the #harrymeghan pic.twitter.com/NfGweiSSlS family

In addition, the royal house published the details of the agreement between the queen and her granddaughter and spouse. In part, the two agreed not to use their royal degrees, though they would still hold the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The two will also stop representing the royal house, and Harry will lose his royal duties in the British army.

As a result, they will cease to receive public funding and even reimburse their estate renovation costs, an estimated $ 2.4 million. The retirement process will begin this spring.

The couple responded to the agreement, saying "they thank the queen and the entire royal family for supporting the couple in their new way."
