(CNN Spanish) - Deputy Alfonso Marquina presented an audio recording on Friday denouncing an attempted bribe by deputy José Gregorio Noriega to support Luis Parra, who declared himself president of parliament on January 5. The list of the 81 deputies that Parra assures, supported his election, has not been disseminated.

Marquina says that the voice heard in the audio is that of Noriega, and that he offers US $ 700,000 in exchange for not voting for the re-election of Juan Guaidó as president of Parliament in the January 5 session. This voice is also offered to chair the Finance Commission of the National Assembly and elect the secretary of that body. In the conversation, the man whom they identify as Noriega says he has received instructions from the questioned President Nicolás Maduro.

Through his Twitter account the deputy Noriega denied that he tried to bribe his colleague Marquina, said that the audio is false and that those who know him know that it is not his voice.

Mr. Marquina, know that he has committed a crime, has simulated a punishable act, is slandering me and defame me, and for that reason he will have to answer to Justice, so I reserve all the legal actions that correspond to me to exercise. # 17Jan

He said that the complaint is nothing more than a mean and perverse strategy that seeks to detract from the merit that he claims was the majority of Parliament that would have elected Luis Parra as president. He points out that Marquina committed a punishable act by slandering and defame him, which is why he reserves the legal actions he will take from now on. He warns that Marquina will have to face justice.

CNN tried to obtain the reaction of the Government of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro on the accusations of being behind the bribe of opposition deputies, but has not yet obtained an answer.

José Gregorio Noriega, who played for more than six years in the Popular Will party, was second vice president in the parliamentary Board of Directors led by Parra.

CNN contacted Juan Guaidó's communication team to get his reaction to this bribe complaint, but so far he has not received a response. Since December he had been alerting that the so-called “Operation Alacrán” was under way to take control of the Legislative Power.
