President Bashar al-Assad issued Legislative Decree No. 3 of 2020 amending Article Two of Legislative Decree No. 54 of 2013 related to prohibiting dealing in non-Syrian pounds as a method of payments.

Legislative Decree No. 3

Based on the provisions of the constitution
Draw the following
Article 1 / Article 2 of Legislative Decree No. 54 of 2013 is amended to read as follows.
A / Anyone who violates the provisions of Article 1 shall be punished by temporary imprisonment with hard labor for a period of no less than seven years and a financial fine equivalent to twice the value of the payments, the amount involved, the payment, services or goods offered.
B / The court shall order the confiscation of the payments, the amounts involved, or the precious metals in favor of the Central Bank of Syria.
Article 2 / No way may be released from the crimes stipulated in Legislative Decree No. 54 of 2013.
Article 3 / The provisions of Legislative Decree No. 55 of 2011 apply to the crimes mentioned in Legislative Decree No. 54 of 2013.
Article 4 / This legislative decree shall be published in the Official Gazette.
