In November and October of last year, Zhou Zile fell to his death and Chen Yanlin's floating body incident triggered the dispute in Hong Kong. Since then, citizens have repeatedly started mourning activities. By the beginning of this month, outside of the fallen Tseung Kwan O Sunde parking lot, Zhou Zile set up an "altar" to mourn the two.
At about 3 am today (21st), it is reported that more than a dozen riot police went to the Sunde parking lot to clear the "Altar". During this time, a lorry arrived at the scene to assist in the removal, and the riot police were on alert outside the road. By 4 am, the "Altar" had been removed and the police had taken off and left. Seen at the scene, the "altar" originally covered with bricks and candles had been cleared, including the "posthumous photos" of the two, and only the post-it notes that could not be removed.
Sources said that Zhou Zile ’s father ’s handwritten letter was also taken away. Some citizens were dissatisfied after learning about the police action. They later arrived at the scene and shouted slogans. Dozens of demonstrators blocked the road with nearby fences and bricks. Debris and glass bottles were thrown off the road, passing vehicles were blocked, some vehicles turned around and some buses were stranded, and they failed to transfer to the bus terminal. At around 4:30, the demonstrators "flashed" and then left.
