Several graffiti addresses encouraging the killing of Jews and swastikas were discovered yesterday in a number of public places in the municipality of Villanova de la Canada, located 30 kilometers northwest of the capital Madrid.

In recent years, many Jewish-traditional young people from France, studying at the University of ALFONSO SABIO, where mainly studying dentistry and paramedical professions, have been living in the city, have a vibrant community life, with about 800 Jews currently living in the city.

The community rabbi, Moshe Bisawi, and his wife are also responsible for creating a variety of cultural activities and, according to them, until recently, they never feared walking down the street with domes and walking around on Saturdays with prayer shawls.

Over the past two or three weeks, the community leader has experienced a number of unpleasant incidents, especially the teasing of the city's residents. Now, after what happened yesterday, the level of hostility has peaked. As soon as the addresses were discovered, much of the community contacted the Jewish Federation, the municipality, the municipal police and the embassy, ​​and the addresses were already erased shortly. The president of the Jewish Federation personally addressed the issue in front of the municipality, and on Monday morning, the mayor himself also called the rabbi of the community and apologized to him.

Yoav Katz, spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Madrid, told "Israel Today" about the event: "Over the coming week, the embassy representatives will attend a number of official ceremonies on the occasion of International Holocaust Day, and we intend to mention this event as an example that the fight against anti-Semitism is still important and necessary in Spain. The embassy is in contact with all parties to ensure that those responsible are prosecuted and that these cases will not change in the future. "
