Hezbollah will be declared a terrorist group by Argentina 1:28

(CNN Spanish) - The Colombian government has adopted the lists of the United States and the European Union of terrorist people and organizations, including Hezbollah, President Ivan Duque announced Monday.

Duque explained during the II hemispheric ministerial conference against terrorism that this will “strengthen the way in which we share information and how we deal with these structures.

"Clearly, this will allow us to detect Hezbollah, Islamic State or Al Qaeda cells, but also ELN and dissent," he added.

Hezbollah is a group that grew by resistance to Israel's occupation in southern Lebanon in 1982 and has since been supported by the Shiite majority of Iran, both financially and militarily. The United States declared it a terrorist organization in 1997

“The consequence of declaring these people and organizations as terrorists is to improve international cooperation, deepen the exchange of information, focus the efforts of the Colombian State in matters of intelligence, prevent the mobility of the members of these groups, prevent that in the territory national people arrive, transit or remain those people, as well as strengthen their judicial persecution and the financing of terrorism ”, notes the minutes of the session of the National Security Council in which the lists of terrorist organizations were adopted on the 17th of January.

The Security Council also decided to exclude from the list of terrorist organizations the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) because it is now a political party.

The FARC was established as a political party in 2017 after in 2016, former guerrillas and the president of Colombia at that time, Juan Manuel Santos, signed a peace agreement.
