BRUSSELS - On the EU fund destined for the transition to a green economy "we think we can do better": Minister of Economy Roberto Gualtieri said. "We will discuss this aspect which also ends up in the context of the budget". It is "a fund that is mainly intended for countries that are lagging behind from the point of view of the ecological transition of the economy and Italy is among those that are ahead": at the same time "it is good that Italy can also access these resources such as the plan to relaunch a greener Ilva ".

"We are working" on the Italian proposal to complete the banking union "and when it is ready we will present it": Gualtieri said entering the Eurogroup. "We want to complete the banking union in a balanced way, providing it with a common deposit guarantee system", but "we also work in general on the future of European governance and economic policy in strong connection with the Green new deal, a line of action that Italy strongly supports, "said the minister. For Gualtieri "Europe needs many things: a complete banking union, a functioning capital market, a step forward on taxation like the digital tax, it needs to have shock absorption tools and therefore a mechanism such as the subsidy of unemployment needs an unprecedented ability to channel resources, public and private investments into the great frontier of ecological transition and innovation ".

While to those who asked how the dialogue with Monte dei Paschi is going, Gualtieri replied: "We are continuing our constructions very constructively".
