Hama-Sana
The General Seed Propagation Branch in Hama has sold more than 23,000 tons of sterile and sifted wheat seed to the governorate's farmers and beyond during the current season.
The branch manager Eng. Abdul Ghani Al-Aswad told SANA correspondent that the branch transferred nine thousand tons of seeds to all branches of the agricultural bank in the governorate to cover the needs of farmers in the current agricultural season. About 5600 tons of wheat seed were shipped to the Foundation’s branches in other governorates and 2900 tons to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations United Nations FAO and the International Committee of the Red Cross indicating that 3,700 tons of seeds were sold directly to farmers and proprietorships.
Abdel-Ghani pointed out that the quantities of wheat received from the majority fields, which were sifted and sterilized this season, amounted to 22 thousand tons, noting that the screening and sterilization operations are carried out through the main screen in Kfarbhem and the screenings of the mobile agricultural mechanization with a capacity of 150 tons of seeds per day.
The seed multiplication branch in Hama last week ended the operations of distributing imported seed potatoes to subscribed farmers for the next season.
