Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented to the State Duma a draft constitutional amendments law he proposed to limit the duties of the president and expand the powers of parliament.

The draft law provides, according to what Russia’s website today reported, that changes to the composition of the Council of State are made under a special federal law and the president has no right to occupy his position for more than two consecutive terms and that citizens who have previously held foreign citizenship or reside in a foreign country or reside in Russia are not For a period of less than 25 years, they are elected to the office of President.

The draft also states that citizens under the age of 21 and hold foreign nationality or foreign residency are not eligible to stand for election to the State Duma and the President forms the State Council that will operate under a special federal law and gives the State Council the power to appoint the public prosecutor and his deputies and the heads of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court and heads of security agencies based on President’s proposals, and the Head of State appoints the Prime Minister, his deputies and members of the government after approving their candidacy in the State Duma and ensuring that the minimum wage is at a level no less than the minimum cost of living in Russia in addition to ensuring the protection of pensions and restoration Social and other nourish inflation by linking indicators of consumer prices.

A draft constitutional amendments bill was put to a vote in a public referendum, and it is scheduled to be considered during a session of the Committee for Constitutional Legislation and State Building in the Council of the Russian Federation, which will be held on the 21st of this month and during a public session of the State Duma on the 23rd of the same month.
