Moscow-Sana

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stressed that what the United States is doing in Syria is illegal and violates the outputs of the basic rules of the United Nations Charter and will be doomed to failure.

Ryabkov said in an interview with a SANA correspondent in Moscow today, it is very clear that the steps taken by the United States in Syria are illegal and violate the outputs of the basic rules of the United Nations Charter, as the legitimate government in Damascus did not invite the United States to the Syrian Arab Republic, nor was it issued No decision will be issued by the UN Security Council, which is the only international body empowered to grant this legitimacy to the US military presence in Syria.

Ryabkov said that everything that the United States exercises through its military presence on Syrian soil is illegal and we are talking about it with open frankness and we emphasize it in our contacts with the Americans, but unfortunately their approach remains the same as before. We, on our part, do not see that this kind of presence can contribute In stabilizing the situation in Syria, on the contrary, it increases its fueling.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added: We would like the United States to eventually absorb the importance of the signals issued by us and by Syria regarding the implementation of those intentions announced by the American administration earlier regarding the withdrawal of its forces from all the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.

On another issue, Ryabkov stressed that it is in Iran's interest to maintain full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency within the framework of the Additional Agreement Protocol on Safeguards, which gives a stronger impetus to Iran's position in dialogue with the international community and, more importantly, miss the opportunity on its enemies to accuse it of hiding the facts about its nuclear program.

Ryabkov added: The opponents of the comprehensive joint plan of action for the nuclear agreement who seek to stoke the situation in the region should not be given additional material and excuses that they can use to heat the situation again in the region.
