According to the latest news, 5 people have been rescued, of which 2 men were consciously sent to North Lantau Hospital; the other 2 men and 1 woman were unconscious and sent to Tuen Mun Hospital. However, they were certified dead in the early hours of today (22).

It is understood that the vessel in question was a customs vessel with a port number of CE13 and was a shallow-water patrol boat. It was made in China and was performing tasks at the time of the incident. After the accident, the entire ship was severely damaged and sank immediately. Sources said that the three dead customs officers were trapped in the "mortuary" after the accident and were rescued by the fire frogman about 40 minutes later. According to the Customs website, the tasks of shallow water patrol boats include the pursuit of smuggling speedboats and motor boats.

The Customs stated that the vessel involved was a shallow-water patrol ship. At 6.30 pm yesterday, the customs left the Customs base at Stonecutters State. On-site news said that an accident occurred at about 9 pm when five customs officers were on board the ship, aged between 27 and 43, four men and one woman. The shallow water patrol ship involved was launched in 2016 and undergoes regular inspections every year. The last regular inspection was conducted in March last year. For the death of three customs officers, the customs will assist the family members of the three officers in accordance with the existing mechanism.
