Neighbourhood: amazing

Yuan Taiwen, who has lived in the district for more than 10 years, was shocked and bluntly said, "It's amazing." She pointed out that, for many years, few people had been riding bicycles at the involved places, suspecting that the deceased was in a hurry. Yuan pointed out that many neighborhoods would ride bicycles to Zhongwu Village Light Rail Station, and then take the light rail after parking. Some neighbourhoods have previously pointed out that traffic lights should be provided with a traffic light or a larger sign to remind passers-by to be careful, but she thinks it is of little use, and will also remind her family to get off the bike before crossing the road, and pay more attention to train conditions.

The incident occurred at about 6 pm on Monday (20th). A light rail train running route 751 hit a 13-year-old boy with a surname of Huang when he reached Zhongwucun Station. The boy was severely injured in multiple places and died after being rescued. MTR stated that it was saddened by the incident and expressed its deep condolences to the families of the deceased. It would also cooperate fully with the police in conducting the investigation. At the time of the incident, a light rail train heading from Zhongwu Village Station to the direction of Youai reached the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Qingshan Road and Yiyuan Road and followed the traffic lights. During this period, the Light Rail Captain noticed that a person riding on the bicycle suddenly crossed the pedestrian crossing and immediately sounded a signal and made an emergency stop. After the incident, the Light Rail Transit Control Center immediately notified the police and arranged staff to provide assistance at the scene.

Affected by the incident, Light Rail Line 610, 614, 615, and 751 services were once blocked, and Light Rail services resumed normal at about 6.55. MTR said that it was very concerned about the accident. The company has sent officers to contact and condolences to their families to provide appropriate assistance. The Light Rail Captain has been temporarily removed from his driving duties to assist police investigations. The Special Investigation Team of the New Territories North Regional Transport Department is investigating the case. Anyone who has witnessed the accident or has information to provide is urged to contact investigators at 3661 3800.
