Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, affirmed that the international organization, under pressure from the permanent members of the Security Council, was unable to put its decisions to end the Israeli occupation of Arab lands into practice.
Al-Jaafari said during a session of the Security Council that the United Nations' inability to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue encouraged some to try to evade legal obligations and seek to overturn the facts and perpetuate the Israeli occupation.
Al-Jaafari made it clear that Washington's declaration regarding occupied Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan is a unilateral act issued by a party that does not have the political or legal capacity to act on lands that are part of the Syrian Arab Republic and occupied Palestine.
Al-Jaafari stressed that Syria renews its demand for the Security Council to oblige the Israeli occupation to stop its practices in the occupied Syrian Golan, steal its antiquities and steal its wealth, including Syrian oil.
Al-Jaafari said that Syria reaffirms that the occupied Golan is an integral part of it and restore it to the line of June 4, 1967 in all the ways guaranteed by international law as a priority.
