BLD: It could be over

In the party of Knesset member Hiba Yazbak, BLD, are awaiting the outcome of the Knesset committee hearings and then in the Supreme Court, as to its disapproval. In the visible tier the party is preparing to fight the disqualification request. In the less visible tier there are already calls within the party to completely remove Belad's candidacy As part of the joint list - as a sign of identification with Yizbak - but not only.

Murad Haddad, one of the party's senior officials and one influencer, concluded that the very presence of the party in the Knesset serves the interest of the right rather than that of the Arab public.

Although all parties and members of the joint list publicly expressed solidarity with MK Yashbak, many of them did not exactly shed a tear if the High Court approved the disqualification. The struggle that is underway between the Arab parties is hidden from view at this stage, mainly because of the need for the party leaders to demonstrate unity to the public, and it has also been proven, in the previous election, that the "formula works."

However, many in the Arab public strongly criticize the Knesset members of the Balad Knesset, who are seen as provocative and overly defiant. In the arrest and trial of MK Basel Ghatas.

So even in the Arab public, there are those who believe that the saw has been served. This is why in recent days it has been estimated that BLD members are beginning to prepare public opinion for the possibility of MK disqualification in the Supreme Court, and possibly the possibility of the entire party retiring. Such a scenario is a bang in Arab politics, and the very discussion of it signals changes.

Although she has so far successfully passed the High Court test regarding her disqualification or disqualification from her Knesset members, BLD is labeled as extreme in both the Jewish public and the Arab public in Israel. Beyond the demand for "the state of all its citizens," stupid and irresponsible moves like smuggling mobile phones to security prisoners are listed.

Whether this time passes the High Court or Shalau's test, the party formed as the party of Arab middle-class people will probably continue to lose support among the Arab public, and not necessarily because of its hawkish stance on the State of Israel, but also because of the rift within the party around what is happening in the Arab world - and the heated debate - Who to support around the Syrian civil war: the rebel Islamists or Assad's murderous regime. But Balad's decline is largely due to her failure to pursue a new public, especially among the Arab youth, many of whom are interested in integration - not separatism.
