London (CNN) - Buckingham Palace is working to revise its guideline on what Prince Henry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will be called after the new title of the Duchess of Sussex made it seem as if she was divorced.

Last week the palace said that the dukes would no longer use their royal titles, their Royal Highnesses, from the second quarter of the year, but would be considered as "Henry, Duke of Sussex" and "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex."

The problem is that this format was adopted by Sarah Ferguson, now called “Sarah, Duchess of York,” after she divorced Prince Andrew in 1996. And Enrique's mother was known as Diana, princess of Wales, after her divorce of Prince Charles.

It is one of the first problems, but it is not likely to be the last, in the complicated process of carrying out the unprecedented agreement that the queen reached with the couple last week after the two said they wanted to reduce their real duties. .

According to the palace, the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not subject to change, but an updated guide on the format of their names is being prepared.

Buckingham Palace said that his previous guidance on the title of the royal couple was wrong, and he is now consulting with Garter's King of Arms, who specializes in title and protocol issues, to issue an updated guide.

Meghan received the title of her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex, when she married Prince Henry in May 2018.

The full title of Henry was His Royal Highness the Duke of Sussex, count of Dumbarton and baron of Kilkeel.
