The municipal council in Jdeidet Artouz in Damascus countryside has put several projects on its list of works for the year 2020, among them maintenance of roads and sewage network and rehabilitation of fair and lighting and others to improve the service reality of the city according to the promises of those in charge of it.

In a statement to the SANA delegate, the head of the Municipal Council, Engineer Haitham Ghunaim, stated that the credits for maintenance of roads and sewage network and rehabilitation of fair and lighting “are available and included in the council’s plan for the current year” indicating that the maintenance and asphalting of roads will take place after the completion of the extension and maintenance of the sewage and water network.

Ghoneim revealed the allocation of 75 million pounds for street asphalting after the end of the winter and 30 million pounds for street lighting, and full maintenance of the sidewalks, pavements and platforms with planting them.

Ghoneim pointed out that a sports stadium will be started and there is a plan to create a commercial center in the new organization and another over the council's investment building during the first quarter of the year 2020, pointing to the launch of a group of investment buildings belonging to the council and three cafes for investment soon, "which will constitute an additional import for the municipality."

The Municipal Council started the implementation of a project worth 9 million pounds for lighting its building with alternative energy, to be completed within a month, according to its president, who stressed that most of the council's services are automated to facilitate and shorten the time for auditors.

The Chairman of the Council pointed out that starting with the establishment of a sewage line at the end of the estuary in El Jadida in cooperation with the people to remove the damage from agricultural lands and work to rehabilitate two gardens, indicating that during the past year about 100 decorative trees were planted on sidewalks and pavements, and 600 trees are currently being planted.

Regarding the transport sector, Ghoneim pointed out that there are 173 services and about 6 internal buses operating on the new line, with promises to increase the number of buses in the future to reduce congestion.

And on the reality of cleanliness in the city, between Ghoneim, that the council and within the available capabilities sought to improve it by increasing the number of baskets and containers in the streets, in addition to designing a straw for streets with civil efforts.

And that work is underway to relay the garbage from the random garbage dump located in an area that entered the organizational chart recently through a contract worth 25 million pounds, through which 3 thousand cubic meters were passed, and in the second phase of the project, 10 thousand cubic meters were carried over, and during the third phase, 10 thousand cubic meters will be carried over.

With regard to the communications sector, Syrian Director of Communications, Engineer Munir Obeid, indicated in a similar statement that there are 30 thousand subscribers in the telephone service and 20 thousand internet portals currently and will be added in the near period adding 5 thousand other gates, while the director of Damascus countryside communications, Eng. Jamal al-Qalash, confirmed the implementation of two projects to extend subnets and a president The expansion of groups in the areas surrounding the new area and the development of UNO units to raise the quality of communication in the countryside in general.
