This Wednesday, at 2:30 p.m., a white walk will leave the esplanade of the Maison de la Radio (16th century) in the direction of Place Jean-Lorrain. A moment of contemplation in memory of Sixtine, an 11-year-old schoolgirl, who died on January 13, fatally knocked down by a truck on a pedestrian crossing. This white march will be held at the same time as the funeral, which the parents wish in a small committee, in a church in this arrondissement of western Paris.
The very accident-causing doors of Paris
This drama has once again highlighted the dangers of pedestrian traffic in the capital. In 2018, several emblematic places in the capital concentrated the vast majority of accidents for pedestrians. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, some 4,177 victims - including 19 deaths, 359 seriously injured and 3,799 slightly injured - were listed. The main danger? The gates of Paris and in particular that of the Chapel (18th century) which is one of the big black dots for lovers of walking just like that of Bercy.

Another risk area, and not least for pedestrians, is that which goes Nation (XIIth) to Porte Maillot (XVIth, XVIIth) passing Bastille (XIth), from Châtelet (Ier), by Concorde (VIIIth) or even the Place de l'Etoile (16th, 17th). A large perimeter, which goes from east to west, very popular with Parisians but also tourists who come to discover the capital.
Finally, Boulevard Sébastopol and the area around the Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord stations are also affected, although in some places improvements have been noted, notably with the appearance of the tram. Another significant fact, the left bank is much less concerned by pedestrian accidents and in particular the 15th arrondissement which is however the most populated.
