Today, in its third session of the twelfth regular session of the second legislative session, headed by Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Council, the People's Assembly discussed the performance and work of the Ministry of Electricity.

The interventions of the members of the People's Assembly focused on the need to expedite the rehabilitation of the Quiris power plant, the operation of the thermal plant in Aleppo, the restoration of electricity to many villages of the eastern and southern Aleppo countryside, the eastern neighborhoods of the city of Aleppo, and the restoration of electricity to the liberated villages and areas of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Idlib, and also the villages of Jabal Al-Sheikh in Damascus countryside Southwest and work to improve the electricity situation and stability, and the construction of the Al-Daour power plant in Latakia and lighting the youth housing project there.

A number of members stressed the necessity of implementing justice in rationing, relying on alternative energy, raising awareness of its use, expanding horizontally in renewable energy stations, providing the appropriate environment for them, investing in them, lighting schools, universities, and streets with solar energy, and keen to remove violations on the electrical network and tackle the illegal lease.

A number of members called for securing the meters and periodically reading them carefully and accepting a new batch of successful people in the competition of the Ministry of Electricity in Latakia and increasing the elements of electricity emergencies in Tartous and the ambassador in the countryside of Aleppo and supporting the emergency centers in general with the competent elements, stressing the necessity of scheduling the electricity debt due to farmers due to the delay in paying the bills due to Conditions during the past years and exemption from delay penalties.

The Minister of Electricity, Muhammad Zuhair Kharbutli, made a presentation in which he stated that the next ministry's strategy includes several projects, including the completion of the second expansion projects for Deir Ali Station, Lattakia Station, Tishreen Power Station, rehabilitation of the fifth steam group at the Aleppo Thermal Power Plant, and completion of the rehabilitation of the two gas groups at the Tayem Power Station.

Minister Kharbutli pointed out that the announcement of the supply of new generating stations and the completion of rehabilitation of the affected groups, in addition to the implementation of the renewable energy strategy until 2030 with a capacity of 1500 MW.

The Minister Kharbutli stressed that the main lifting transformer and its accessories were secured with a capacity of 275 MVA for the Aleppo thermal power station, which will raise the tension from the generator to the public network from 15 kV to 203 kV and the start-up transmission has been secured to all groups.

In his response to the interventions and questions of members of the Council, Minister Kharbutli said that the Ministry pays special attention to Aleppo Governorate to deliver electricity to all liberated areas, where work is currently underway to rehabilitate the 400 kph line with a length of 153 km and there are between 20 and 25 km in areas in contact with Terrorist groups, and in the event of their liberation, the workshops will complete this line and bring it into service in addition to the 230 line and also the water dam lines, and a plan has been prepared to restore electricity to eastern Aleppo neighborhoods.

The Minister of Electricity pointed out that in the countryside of Idlib, the editor will start implementing a line with a length of more than 60 km and feed it from the Sorour station in Hama, and all supplies from transformers and mechanisms to Raqqa will be secured.

Kharbutli said that the ministry seeks to achieve justice by legalization and that reciprocal protection be fairly installed, pointing out that there are contracts between the ministry and the ministries of education and higher education and scientific research that will be implemented to use alternative energies and lighting schools, universities and other government institutions with solar energy.

On the issue of counters, Minister Kharbutli explained that there is a contract for 200 thousand meters, 15 of which will be supplied before the end of the current month, and there is a memorandum of understanding with Iran to settle the meters industry in Syria, pointing out that there are contracts to supply 200 basket cranes at a value of 50 million dollars to distribute to each Companies.

The Minister of Electricity pointed out that the biggest challenge is the illegal drawing of electricity, since during the past year more than 35 thousand seizures were organized and we continue to conduct campaigns about this, indicating that the ministry announced competitions at the end of last year and there are procedures to accommodate additional requests from applicants indicating the ministry’s readiness To pay bills to reduce the burdens on citizens after submitting an application to the Ministry.

The Minister of Electricity said, "During the current winter, 12 workers were martyred and 20 others were injured during their work in repairing breakdowns and others, which holds us very responsible towards the families of the martyrs."

The session, which was attended by Minister of State for People's Assembly Affairs Abdullah Abdullah, was lifted to 11:00 tomorrow, Wednesday.
