The 52-year-old female patient reported staying at the New Oriental Land Hotel on January 19 and stayed in the hotel casino for most of the night until last night (21st). The Macau authorities sent personnel to New Oriental Land for disinfection, and found a number of people in contact with the patients in the hotel and took them to the Peak Hospital for a virus test. According to ABC News, the contacts included four police officers stationed in the casino.
The first patient diagnosed with new-type pneumonia in Macau was from Wuhan. After arriving in Macau via Zhuhai on January 19, she stayed at the New Oriental Land Hotel. She had a meal at a restaurant near the hotel the next day. On the 21st, she went to the Peak Hospital for medical treatment due to cough and sore throat. She was tested positive for the new coronavirus and she had a fever.
The Macau Fire Department today dispatched staff to New Oriental Land's floors and hotel rooms for disinfection. In the hotel, a number of people who were in contact with the patients were found. They were taken to ambulances and sent to the Peak Hospital for virus testing. According to ABC News, the contacts included four police officers stationed in the casino.
39 casinos in Macau have also been set up for temperature detection. If someone detects that the body temperature is too high at the casino entrance, they will go to the medical room for inspection first, and then contact the health bureau if necessary. Authorities said they would know the travel history of people with fever, and if the signs of association with new pneumonia are high, patients may be arranged for further testing.
