The Chinese authorities announced today that the death toll from the newly created Corona virus, which is spreading in the country, has risen to nine deaths and more than 400 infected people throughout the country, warning of the danger of the virus spreading faster due to its ability to transform.
"The virus transmitted through the respiratory system can be transmitted and spread faster," Xinhua news agency quoted Deputy Minister of the National Health Committee, Li Bin, as saying at a press conference, explaining that nine deaths resulted from the aforementioned cases, all of them in central China's Hubei Province, while 149 new confirmed cases were reported yesterday.
One case was confirmed in Japan, three cases in Thailand and one in the Republic of Korea, while figures from the committee showed that 2,197 people were closely tracked to the affected cases and 1394 of them were under medical supervision.
The Chinese authorities announced the fourth death yesterday as a result of infection with a new strain of the Corona virus, which causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), as more than 200 people were infected with this disease after its appearance in Wuhan, central China.
The World Health Organization will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow to determine whether it is appropriate to declare a "health emergency with an international dimension", a measure that is usually taken to address more serious epidemics.
