Marcelo Escolar, about the power of Cristina Fernández 1:28

(CNN Spanish) - Four years, one month and 12 days have passed since December 9, 2015 Cristina Fernández de Kirchner left the presidency of Argentina. That day, and before a crowd that fired her, she said sarcastically: "At 12 I become a pumpkin."

But far from that omen, this Tuesday, and following the first international trip of President Alberto Fernández, the now vice president returned to occupy the country's first magistracy.

It will be temporarily, until Saturday, when the president returns from Israel, where he will participate in the International Leaders Forum in Commemoration of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Fight against Anti-Semitism, to be held in Jerusalem.

But beyond the purely legal and formal issue, since article 88 of the National Constitution indicates that the vice president must exercise the command of the Executive Power in the absence of the president, for many she has a strong symbolism.

Owner of a great political flow, since the end of 2018, she was speculating with her candidacy for the presidency to dispute Mauricio Macri's position. He finally decided to compete, but as vice president, changing the entire political scene.

“I have asked Alberto Fernández to lead the formula that we will integrate together. He as a candidate for president and I as a candidate for vice, ”said the then senator and former president in a video that showed an unprecedented gesture in Argentine politics: a candidate for vice president proclaimed who would be his candidate for president.

Some of his supporters explained this decision by arguing that Fernández de Kirchner was necessary to be able to beat Macri, but that alone with it was not enough and that was why he sought to broaden his political base.

At that time, she only said in the same video of the announcement that she believed that personal ambition had to be "subordinate to the general interest."

But as Fernández de Kirchner has aroused passions found throughout his long political career, in the face of this "novelty" there was no lack of critics who argued that she would be the one who would really rule in case of winning the elections.

Perhaps to silence those comments or for the same reasons that he argued in that video, during the campaign the then ex-president remained quite aloof, participating in very few acts and giving prominence to Fernandez.

After the elections and the inauguration, the vice president continues to keep that profile low in recent months.

And as long as he temporarily re-occupies the presidency of the country, no official activity is planned in these four days, they informed from the Presidency.

He signed the transfer of command in his offices of the Homeland Institute, his political office, and he is not even expected to go to the Casa Rosada, which he visited for the last time on December 10, the day of his assumption.

However, since Tuesday morning, the #CristinaPresidenta label was a trend in social networks.
