According to the report, the senior in Basij - subject to the Revolutionary Guards - was shot dead at the door of his home yesterday by two people riding a motorcycle. No organization accepted responsibility for the elimination. He was described by Irna as one of the "Protectors of the Holy Places", a nickname given to security forces fighting in Iraq or Syria against the Islamic State (ISIS).
The province of Khoshan, where an Arab minority lives, was one of the protesters against rising fuel prices last November. On Saturday, the United States imposed sanctions on a Revolutionary Guards general in the county, which commanded units that Washington is responsible for killing civilians.

According to the US State Department, which cited numerous media outlets and information transmitted to it through a hot line, at least 148 protesters were killed as Revolutionary Guards opened fire on machine guns and set fire to an marshy area where protesters hid in the city of Mashar. Tehran rejected the death toll, saying security forces confronted "rioters" who were trying to attack industrial facilities and a strategic assembly line.
The November protests, which soon took on a political nature against the regime, were suppressed with the most severe violence since the Islamic Republic came into existence 40 years ago.
