The glasses become a distant history

Much has been going on in the field of optics since the invention of the glasses in Italy hundreds of years to the present, when anyone can go into the clinic and do laser surgery for vision correction with ease and comfort. A brief history lesson - after which you leave your glasses behind too

It is a little difficult to digest, but until the 15th century AD for those who did not see good in the short term there was no real solution to the problem. There is evidence that a few years before, a monk and a physicist from Italy had invented the first reading glasses - but these were not common and did not reach the masses.

In the second half of the 1,400 AD, the visually impaired also received relief. Pope Leo 10, for example, is known to have worn his glasses when he went hunting and thus better saw the distant animals. After the print became popular too, many began to read - and with the reading came the growing need for glasses to ease the vision.

From a luxury product that only the knowledgeable and noble could afford, the glasses became a popular commodity also sold in the market, and their lenses were customized for each individual.

The wise and the noble put on the glasses to look smarter, the newspaper readers needed to notice the small, dense letters and were also high-class in some countries who developed a single chain-attached binoculars, used only for a moment to notice the small details and then downloaded and hidden them.

In the 20th century, glasses are already a must-have in almost every home. Some think glasses are an integral part of childhood, others have found that they need an accessory that will improve their vision at a later age and there are those who only when he reached age three purchased his first pair of glasses. There are long-term and short-sighted glasses, designed and simple, and even ones that have created the best of artists and whose price is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Looking forward

If until a few decades ago most people thought that unresolvable vision problems - and that glasses are the only means to improve the situation - today everyone already knows that laser surgery is easy, convenient and suitable for almost anyone.

The first research in this field was published as early as the 19th century, but it was not until 1930 that an ophthalmologist from Japan conducted the first experiment and performed corneal cutting of military pilots. It was another 33 years before a clinic in Colombia conducted the next experiment in the field - surgery that reshaped the cornea in the eye and allowed for myopia to be corrected. A few years later, the laser came into the picture, after an IBM scientist discovered that it was possible to cut organic tissue with high precision.

My father of surgical surgery was a Spanish ophthalmologist by the name of Jose Barracer, who conceived the idea that it was possible to affect the transmission and remove the need for glasses by altering the corneal curvature. The first analyzes were done manually and were inaccurate, to say the least, and later he had already developed instrumentation with which the results were more accurate, but not yet complete. While these surgeries were suitable for high numbers, there were many risks and they were inaccurate.

Hence the progress was already meteoric - the refinements grew from year to year and more and more techniques were invented to shorten the procedure and improve accuracy. In the last two decades the field has made a significant leap forward and today advanced technology enables high accuracy and laser glasses removal for a wide range of populations.

Look you in the eyes

And back in our day - after quite a few glances and concerns, thousands of Israelis arrive each year and make a decision that will change their lives - to say hello and say goodbye to glasses and contact lenses. Now they only have to decide what is the best place to do the surgery - and here too, there is no room for much deliberation.

As in the world, there are also several laser surgery surgery centers in Israel - but there is only one medical center operating under a JCI standard for quality and safety in medicine - Assuta Optic.

Medical Center personnel are aware of concerns and deliberations, so the skilled staff accompanies patients from the first moment to the new life, without the visual problems and associated aids.

Assuta Optic is part of a large, state-of-the-art medical center in Israel that performs a wide variety of top-quality eye surgery. There you will find the most advanced instrumentation, the most senior eye surgeons in Israel, and an effective and thorough control system that monitors the level and medical processes.
Assuta Optic's eye clinics are deployed at Assuta Medical Centers in Tel Aviv, Ra'anana, Haifa, Jerusalem, Ashdod and Beersheba. The treatment is provided in a hospital and is safe, professional, uncompromising in quality of care and service.

In the first phase, the prospective patient meets with the surgeon for an appointment that includes diagnostics and adjustments made using advanced medical equipment. On the day of treatment, arrive at the clinic about an hour before surgery, undergo preparation and enter the operating room. It is important to remember that the procedure does not hurt, and the surgeon explains at every stage what is going on - so that there is no reason to get into stress.

The entire procedure will take about 15 minutes after the end of treatment. The doctor will review the eye condition, and the patient will be provided with a medication kit, prescription and guidelines for postoperative behavior.

No matter the method of surgery, Assuta Optic's medical concept is "Blade-Free Surgery" and the eye is treated with a laser beam only. With the Z-LASIK method, the laser device creates a corneal treatment window and allows treatment of the inner layers of the cornea and return time to a very short routine.

In the TRANS PRK method, the laser beam pulses across the corneal surface and performs the optical repair, so that there is no contact with surgical instrumentation in the eye. At the end of the process, put a therapeutic contact lens on the eye, and the recovery time is longer than the Z-LASIK method, but it is still a few days' recovery time.
Much has been going on in the field of optics since the convex lenses invented a few centuries ago to the laser problem removal. Everything became safer, more comfortable and more comfortable.

And just to reinforce the sense of security a little bit - Assuta Ramat Hahayal and Asuta Peace Hospitals have previously received a JCI Certified Medical Quality and Safety degree for meeting high standards of quality and safety in medicine.

The eye surgery is performed with the participation of all the health funds according to the insurance coverage. For example, the deductibles of Clalit Perfect Platinum clients range from NIS 4490 to the 2 eyes, and the Maccabi Mine clients from NIS 5720 to the 2 eyes. In quite a few cases, the treatment can only be performed for one eye and then the prices are significantly lower.

The payments for laser eye care treatment at Assuta Optic can be divided through the ICC company, with monthly reimbursements starting from NIS 200.
