[Maanshan TATP] 17-year-old male student temporarily charged with possession of explosives

Caritas Ma On Shan Middle School discovered suspected explosives on November last year. Police arrested two male students involved in the case, one of whom was earlier charged with explosives. Police said that another 17-year-old male student named Zhao was temporarily charged with possession of explosives and will appear in Sha Tin Magistracy tomorrow (24th) afternoon.

On November 27 last year, the police received a report that suspected explosives were found at Caritas Maanshan Middle School. After an initial investigation, 18-year-old secondary six male student Li Wenguang and 17-year-old student Zhao were arrested. On the 29th of the same month, Li Wenguang was charged with possession of explosives. The case stated that he was carrying 0.5 grams of triacetone triacetone (TATP) powder wrapped in tin foil. No defense was required for the time being. The case was postponed until January 24 this year. Further, the defendant was refused bail for waiting for an expert report and testing of the explosives involved in the case.
