The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan said on Friday (24th) that there was a second confirmed case of pneumonia in Wuhan of the new coronavirus. The 40-year-old male patient came from Wuhan and had visited Tokyo. He is currently in hospital for observation.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated that the male patient, living in Wuhan, started having fever on the 14th of this month, and then saw a doctor on the 15th and 17th, but was not diagnosed with pneumonia. He travelled to Japan last Sunday (19th) and visited a doctor there on Monday (20th). He was not diagnosed with pneumonia.

Until Wednesday (22nd), the male patient continued to have symptoms such as fever and sore throat. When he went to the doctor, he was considered to be infected with pneumonia, so he was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with the disease in the early morning on Friday (24th). Wuhan pneumonia is currently hospitalized in a medical institution in Tokyo.
