A woman was killed and seven people were wounded, including a child, in a shooting incident in downtown Seattle.
"A woman was killed in the shooting yesterday and several other people were wounded," local police chief Carmen Best said, according to local media.
"Police officers are investigating the shooting that took place near the city center and there are many victims while the suspect escaped and the police are looking for him," the city police said in a tweet on Twitter today.
For his part, the Harborview Medical Center announced that seven of the injured, including a nine-year-old boy, were taken to hospital for treatment, while hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg said that two of the injured were in a serious condition, a 55-year-old woman who had sustained stomach injuries and a boy who had sustained a leg injury.
Shooting incidents are common in the United States, with a culture of violence spreading in American society and the right to possession of the individual weapon championed by President Donald Trump.
