(CNN) - After a month of rumors, the popular K-pop band BTS has finally confirmed a new world tour that will begin in April.

The band will then head to North America, Europe and Japan.

The group will play in at least 17 different locations around the world, from Toronto to Tokyo, promoting their new album, Map of the Soul: 7, which will be released to the public on February 21.

The expectation for a possible tour increased in December when Big Hit Entertainment, the band's management company, published a tweet that said: "April 2020. Stay tuned."

The group took a short break in 2019, returning earlier this month with the release of "Black Swan," a song from the new album.

Members of ARMY, the BTS fan club, expressed their enthusiasm for the good news on social networks, as well as the concern for the fierce competition to get tickets.

Tickets for shows in the United States will go on sale through Live Nation on February 7, while ticket details for some of the other shows, including the two in London, have not yet been announced.

In May 2019, BTS became the first band in Billboard history that has remained number one on the Artist 100 list for five weeks.

The news of the tour comes a week after the group ventured into the art world, launching a global public art project called “Connect, BTS”.
