China puts a second quarantine city on Thursday for fear of the spread of the corona virus that has already claimed the lives of 17 people. Another 571 people were infected. After Wuhan, the focus of the SARS family outbreak, authorities in neighboring Huangang City, which has about six million residents, have taken similar steps when disrupting most of the transportation system and urging residents not to leave. About 11 million people live in Wuhan.

The mysterious virus was discovered at the end of last year, and probably originates from illegal wildlife trade in the city market. China has not provided new details on the number of viruses, but these have been reported in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and in several other countries in the world, including the United States.

Worldwide, preventive measures are being taken for fear of turning the virus into a pandemic. World Health Organization CEO Tadros Adenhum Ghabrasos announced today that he will decide whether to declare an international emergency in light of the virus outbreak. If he decides, it will be the sixth time in the last decade. "I take the decision seriously," said Ghabrasus.

He told reporters in Geneva that the steps China was taking "are very strong," but called on it to "take further and significant steps to limit or minimize the spread worldwide."

On social networks, the main transport hubs in Wuhan appeared abandoned, with their gates blocked or locked. According to local media, toll roads around the city were closed, so the exit lanes were actually closed. One resident told Reuters that soldiers were patrolling the main roads. With the closure on the town, residents rushed to the hospitals to be checked in and rushed to get supplies. Supermarket shelves were emptied and queues were posted at the gas stations.

Subsequently, authorities in Huangag ordered the closure of entertainment venues, including movie theaters and cafes, and ordered citizens not to leave the city except under special circumstances.

Compared to the government's confidentiality in 2002 about the acute respiratory syndrome, which killed nearly 800 people, Beijing's government has provided regular updates on virus developments to try to prevent public panic.

The official Xinhua news agency reported that during a visit to Wuhan, Deputy Prime Minister San Chunyan said authorities should be more visible about the virus and its efforts to stop its spread. Some experts believe the new virus is not as dangerous as his family, the SARS, and the MERS. The latest, spread in the Middle East, has caused more than 700 deaths since 2012.

In spite of China's preventive measures, Asian markets recorded price declines.
