Daraa-Sana
Storage rates for dams in Daraa Governorate increased to reach about 60 percent of total storage, benefiting from the recent rainfalls in the governorate.
Engineer Muhammed Munir Al-Awda, Director of Water Resources in the governorate, stated that the heavy rains caused the flow of 3 valleys in the western and northwestern countryside, namely Wadi Al-Aram, feeding the Sheikh Meskin dam, Wadi Al-Alan feeding for the martyr Basil Al-Assad and Tasil, and the valley of Al-Raqqad Dam for the Ghadir Al-Bustan dam, where the valleys of the dams were harvested. Until the dams of Ghadeer Al-Bustan, Tseel, and Battaa 'Al-Sagheer reached the maximum storage level, while the martyr Basil and Abdeen dam was nearly full, while the Sheikh Miskin Dam reached 60% of its storage.
Al-Awda pointed out that the dams of the eastern countryside of the governorate did not store water until the moment because of the lack of flowing valleys feeding it, explaining that the valleys need snowy rains, which did not happen until this moment.
Al-Awda pointed out that the Directorate completed the maintenance of the summit of the martyr Basil Al-Assad dam with a value of 50 million pounds, in addition to the completion of maintenance work for the dam discharge, while maintenance work for the aggression dam is still ongoing as the water was not stored there for maintenance reasons.
It is noteworthy that the total storage of dams in Daraa is 92 million cubic meters, and the number of dams in the governorate is 16.
