The branch of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Republic of Dagestan announced the arrest of six members of a cell belonging to an extremist terrorist group called "Atonement and Immigration" in the Russian Republic.
"FBI agents carried out a joint operation with elements of the Ministry of Interior to seize a cell belonging to the aforementioned group operating in Dagestan, resulting in the arrest of six of its active activists who hold Russian citizenship," the TASS news agency quoted a spokesman for the agency as saying.
The spokesman pointed out that data storage equipment and brochures promoting the group's ideas were seized during the search and search operations of their homes.
The Russian Federal Security had closed earlier in the day a website registered in the Netherlands that sends thousands of false reports about the presence of bombs throughout Russia.
