(CNN Spanish) - The temporary Gloria moves this Wednesday towards the north of the Iberian Peninsula giving the first signs of remission. However, several Spanish regions remain on alert for the effects of the storm, considered one of the most devastating in recent years. According to CNN confirmed the Directorate General of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of Interior of Spain, until Wednesday there have been seven dead and four missing persons related to the storm throughout the national territory.

Civil Protection also recommended this Tuesday to take precautions on the Mediterranean coast and in the Balearic Islands, where the alert is still maintained due to heavy snowfall, heavy rain and temporary wind.

In the last two days there were heavy snowfall in the autonomous communities of Aragon and Castilla-La Mancha and very heavy rains in Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, areas also punished by a violent wind storm. In Catalonia there were strong floods in different areas of the Ebro Delta. In the Valencian community Gloria left in its wake great destruction in several coastal towns.

The maritime storm has also hit the Galician coast, and strong winds and snowfall have affected areas of Castile and Leon, Madrid and Andalusia, according to Civil Protection.

For its part, the Catalan Government has reported that the storm has left 170,000 students in its region without classes.

At least five Catalan roads maintain traffic restrictions this Wednesday. Catalonia has also counted several casualties of varying severity related to the storm.
