The Jockey Club announced via the webpage at 7:52 pm today that after listening to the public's opinions and taking into account the interests of customers and employees, it has carefully reviewed the arrangements for the Chinese New Year horse racing day and decided that the New Year's Day race will be held as scheduled, but the number of participants and Take a number of measures to strengthen health and epidemic prevention. With the exception of horse racers, trainers, jockeys, directors and related staff, who are necessary for the event, only about 8,000 customers who have made an appointment in advance to use the racecourse restaurant can enter. It means that no other public will be allowed to enter the racetrack on that day.

The Jockey Club stated that other racecourse facilities such as the betting lobby, film and television lobby, and digital zone will be closed. On the day of the event, there will be approximately 8,000 customers in more than 160 restaurants and cabins in two racecourses. In response to the above arrangements, the part-time employees on the horse farm will be sharply reduced from 11,000 to 3,000. The part-time employees will also be accompanied by other on-duty employees. They will be required to undergo temperature detection and inspection and be advised to wear masks before entering. For the 8,000 part-time employees who have been reorganized but do not need to be on duty, the Jockey Club will make special payments to cover their loss of income.

In addition, the Jockey Club decided to suspend all off-site betting services in Hong Kong on the day of the Chinese New Year to prevent the gathering of a large number of customers; the interactive betting, telephone betting and 1886 telephone betting automatic service system will maintain normal services. The Liuhecai New Year Jinduobao betting originally scheduled to be held on Tuesday, January 28 will be postponed to Saturday, February 1, and all accepted Liuhecai bets are still valid.

The Jockey Club stated that it will continue to implement the above arrangements for the racecourse and off-site betting offices until further notice, and will closely monitor the latest situation of new coronavirus infections daily to determine whether further measures are needed.
