More than 300 members of the Hong Kong SARS Mutual Aid Society have all been diagnosed and recovered from SARS. They issued a press release today and bluntly did not dare to forget the impact of SARS on Hong Kong in 2003. They emphasized that "SARS" not only seriously affected Hong Kong's economy and people's livelihood, but also claimed the lives of 299 people, including 8 medical staff; and a group of recovered people still face life and physical difficulties. Facing the threat of a new type of coronavirus from Wuhan pneumonia, they urged the government to learn from the SARS "blood lessons" of 2003 and do their best to prevent epidemics.

Promote ban on non-locals who have visited Wuhan within one month

The Hong Kong SARS Association requires the Hong Kong Government to prohibit non-locals who have visited Wuhan in the past month from entering Hong Kong, and requires all visitors or Hong Kong residents who come to Hong Kong from the country to complete a health declaration form. If the epidemic situation continues to deteriorate, the government must consider prohibiting all mainland visitors from coming to Hong Kong until the epidemic situation in the Mainland improves.

The Hong Kong SARS Mutual Aid Society is grateful for the medical staff to keep abreast of their posts and urge the people of Hong Kong to unite against the epidemic and avoid repeating the same mistakes of the past. This includes raising personal awareness of epidemic prevention and putting on masks in crowded places. If fever and respiratory infection symptoms appear Seek medical attention immediately.
