(CNN) - Houston police said they were responding to a fire explosion in a building in northwestern Houston early Friday, an explosion that CNN affiliates reported shaking other buildings in the area.
The explosion occurred around 4:15 am local time (5:15 am ET) in the 4500 block of Gessner Road, about 29 miles by car, in the northwest of the city center, authorities said.
Details about what exploded, what caused it and if someone was injured were not immediately available.
People in the area felt the buildings shake when the explosion occurred, said KPRC, a CNN affiliate.
Residents have also reported broken windows and doors in the area, KTRK reported.
