USA: 34 soldiers have been diagnosed with brain injuries as a result of the Iranian missile attack
Three weeks after the two US military bases were launched in Iraq, the Pentagon announced that 16 casualties were still being treated and 17 more resumed. Trump, who initially declared no casualties, reduced the severity of the soldiers' injuries and claimed: "I heard they have headaches"

34 US soldiers have been diagnosed with a concussion or a brain injury following trauma from the Iranian missile attack on US military bases in Iraq - the Pentagon announced Friday. Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said eight of the casualties who were evacuated for medical treatment in Germany were transferred to the United States, and nine remained for further supervision. Seventeen of the injured soldiers returned to their bases.
Pentagon officials said there was no attempt to minimize or delay information about the injuries, but casualty care raised questions about U.S. policy on dealing with brain injuries. While the U.S. military is committed to reporting life-threatening incidents immediately, there is no requirement to do so in cases of brain injuries that may take time to diagnose.

After the January 8 attack, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that there were no American casualties. When asked later about reports of brain injuries, Trump reduced their severity. "I heard they have headaches and some other things. But I say, and I can report, that they are not very severe," he said. Hoffman has now made it clear that the president "wanted to make sure we were providing the most accurate numbers."
Michael Kaplan, chairman of the New York State Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Board, said he was "shocked by President Trump's ignorant statement". .
The injuries, known as TBI, are "life-changing" injuries, Kaplan explained. He said, "The physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral consequences affect every aspect of daily life."

Last week, the United States Army announced that eight soldiers were wounded in the Iranian missile attack on Iraqi bases. Center Command spokesman Captain Bill Urban said: "While none of the U.S. forces were killed in the Iranian attack on Al-Assad Air Force base, several were treated for concussion symptoms from the blast and are still under surveillance."
Iran has launched at least 15 missiles at bases where US troops are stationed in Iraq in response to the assassination of Quds Force commander in the Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Suleimani. General Amir Ali Hajidze, commander of the Revolutionary Guards Air Force responsible for the arsenal of missiles, said Tehran did not attempt to kill soldiers in its attack but did damage to Washington's "war machine." However, he argued without foundation that "dozens were killed and injured" and that the United States concealed this as it delivered casualties to hospitals in countries in the region, including Israel.
