Police arrested eight people in the dispersal operation, the youngest being only 14 years old. A 27-year-old man was charged with assaulting a police officer and was brought to court on 28th this month.
Police said that at about 10 pm yesterday (25th), about 100 demonstrators gathered at the junction of Portland Street and Nelson Street in Mong Kok and blocked the road with debris. Police arrived at the scene to conduct a dispersal operation.
During the operation, the police arrested a total of 6 men and 2 women, aged 14 to 46, for assaulting the police, refusing arrest, misbehaving in public places, possession of offensive weapons and illegal assembly. The case was referred to the Mong Kok Police District Criminal Investigation Team. The sixth team followed up. A 27-year-old man has been temporarily charged with one count of assaulting a police officer. The case will appear in the West Kowloon Magistracy on the 28th of this month. The remaining arrested persons are being detained for investigation.
