Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, today discussed with Edward Shaker Shaiban, the Regional Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the Middle East and North Africa, ways to enhance coordination and cooperation between the Syrian government and UNICEF.
Al-Miqdad reviewed the attention that the Syrian state attaches to following up the provision of education to all Syrian children at various educational levels, pointing in particular to the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and UNICEF in the field of compensation for children who were deprived of the conditions of terrorist warfare from pursuing their educational attainment, despite all attempts by terrorist organizations to disrupt The educational process in Syria.
In turn, Shaiban drew close cooperation between the Syrian state and UNICEF, in addition to the organization's activities in the rehabilitation and restoration of schools that were destroyed during the terrorist war on Syria and the conduct of vaccination campaigns for children in various parts of Syria in cooperation with the ministries of education and health.
Shaiban expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Syrian state in facilitating the arrival of aid and services for Syrian children.
The meeting was attended by Abdel-Moneim Annan, Director of the International Organizations Department, Osama Ali, Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister, Dr. Khawla Youssef from the Department of International Organizations, Zina Ali, from the Office of the Deputy Minister, and by the organization, Francesco Equeza, Director of the UNICEF Office in Syria, and Bashar Al-Atrash, Protocol Officer in the organization.
